I Go Ape - Neil Sedaka

Listen free to I Go Ape by Neil Sedaka (original version) and download mp3s of Rock and Roll Favorites from the fifties and sixties. Request your own favorites to be added. I was in my first year at university when this song was released in 1959. I loved the rhythm and the happy sound.

Neil was a great songwriter, nor just of Rock n Roll songs but also ballads, and he wrote for many other artistes too. I remember hearing him on an interview once saying that his contract required him to churn songs like a sausage machine, for the recording studio to use for their artistes.

The last time I looked he had not yet been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. That is really not good!

Live on Shindig!, 1959

Shindig! was an American musical variety series which aired on ABC from September 16, 1964 to January 8, 1966. The show was hosted by Jimmy O'Neill, a disc jockey in Los Angeles at the time who also created the show along with his wife Sharon Sheeley and production executive Art Stolnitz. The original pilot was rejected by ABC and David Sontag, then Executive Producer of ABC, redeveloped and completely redesigned the show. A new pilot with a new cast of artists was shot starring Sam Cooke. That pilot aired as the premiere episode. ~ Reference: Wikipedia
